Jordan Henderson gets new tattoo to celebrate Liverpool's Champions League win

Jordan Henderson has seemingly gone and got a permanent reminder of Liverpool's Champions League triumph.

The Reds skipper lifted the trophy in Madrid after the 2-0 victory over Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur on June 1, winning his first piece of silverware as Liverpool captain a year after the Reds fell short in the Kiev final against Real Madrid .

The win was all the sweeter for Henderson, who almost left the club for Fulham just a year after joining from Sunderland in 2011, and who has faced constant scrutiny of both his place in Jurgen Klopp's team and his role as captain.

Now enjoying a well-earned summer break, Henderson paid a visit to celebrity tattooist Tommy Montoya - who has starred in reality series NY Ink - to get an image of the famous trophy tattooed on his thigh.

Montoya - who owns the Klockwork Tattoo Club in Covina, Los Angeles County - shared a photo of himself with Henderson, who can be seen sporting a protective bandage on his thigh, and a perfect tattoo of the Champions League trophy with the date 01/06/19 below.

With the post, Montoya wrote: "Congratulations to the champs @liverpoolfc @jhenderson even at the top he remains humble. #truechampion"

Henderson spoke of his pride at lifting the trophy in a new book about Liverpool's success.

"Winning the Champions League against Spurs was a fitting way to end what’s been an exhilarating, emotional and hugely successful season for Liverpool Football Club," he says in The Official Story of Liverpool's 2018-19 Season .

"It is an enormous honour and a privilege to be captain of this great club. Lifting the trophy in Madrid alongside my team-mates to bring the European Cup back to Anfield for the sixth time was one of the greatest moments of both my life and my career.

"The memories from not just that night, but the entire journey to get there, will stay with us all forever."
