Jordan Henderson explains dressing room change as Liverpool might have repeated transfer mistake

Your morning digest for Wednesday, September 1

'It has changed' - Jordan Henderson explains Liverpool dressing room switch after new deal

Jordan Henderson has ended any speculation surrounding his future by putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract on Tuesday.

The Reds had a quiet deadline day with regards to incomings, but the Liverpool captain has extended his commitment to the club until 2025.

Henderson celebrated 10 years at Anfield this summer, but a lot has changed in the dressing room in recent years, according to the 31-year-old.

"I’d definitely say it has changed a bit because over that period of time a lot of people have grown – as players, of course, but as people, as leaders within the dressing room," Henderson told liverpoolfc.com.

"So I do hear a lot more leadership, I would say, before games maybe in and around the dressing room, people taking ownership of certain things."

Liverpool might have made another Virgil van Dijk transfer mistake on deadline day

One deadline day deal that might not have attracted much attention is Odsonne Edouard’s imminent switch to Crystal Palace.

The Celtic striker has loosely been linked with Liverpool on a number of occasions in the past, though the Reds have never shown any concrete interest in his services.

The 23-year-old striker scored 40 goals in all competitions for Celtic last season and his scintillating form caught the eyes of clubs across Europe

Like most players moving to the Premier League from other leagues, question marks will remain over whether Edouard can replicate his Celtic form in England.

But his time in Scotland cannot be sniffed at, with Virgil van Dijk the perfect proof of such a fact.
