Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip in contention for Liverpool's trip to Tottenham

Liverpool have been handed a boost ahead after Jurgen Klopp confirmed Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip have both trained ahead of their clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

The Reds captain has missed his side's defeats to Burnley and Manchester United, while the Cameroonian sat out Liverpool's FA Cup exit, having only just returned from injury against the Clarets.

But Klopp reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of his side’s trip to North London, confirming the duo have trained fully with the rest of the squad and he’ll make a decision on their availability ahead of the game.

“No new [injuries]. Hendo and Joel trained yesterday with the team fully,” he said. “Like always we have to wait and see overnight but they trained."

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, a point ahead of sixth-placed Tottenham, and will be overtaken by Jose Mourinho's side if they suffer defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
