Jordan reiterated on Saturday its commitment to the two-state solution to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi received in Amman Palestinian Liberation Organization Executive Committee Secretary Saeb Erekat.
There can be no peace without achieving the Palestinian demand and right to liberate Jerusalem and establish it as the capital of a Palestinian state, the minister stressed.
The formation of an independent Palestinian state is a main condition to resolving the conflict and achieving peace in the region, he added.
Safadi and Erekat discussed the latest developments linked to the Palestinian cause, saying that resolving the refugee issue should be part of a comprehensive solution according to the 2002 Arab peace initiative, which underlines their right to return to their homeland.
They stressed that economic proposals cannot act as a substitute to the two-state solution.
