Jordan Cashmyer of MTV's 16 and Pregnant reality show dies at the age of 26

MTV's 16 and Pregnant reality star Jordan Cashmyer has died at the age of 26.

Jordan, who told of her struggles as a teenage homeless mother on the show, died on Saturday in Maryland, leaving her family heartbroken.

The cause of her death is still unknown and has been referred to the medical examiner.

Jordan's dad Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr. shared his devastation on Facebook saying: "Last night I received a call no parent ever wants.

"My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER."

He added: "Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy. Please understand and respect our privacy at this time.

"We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter Lyla and family members."

Jordan and her boyfriend Derek Taylor, and daughter Evie, were on the show in 2014. They were homeless just before Jordan's due date.

After her family said they didn't approve of their relationship she and Derek split and Jordan's dad and stepmom shared guardianship with him.
