Emergency services were in attendance at an accident on Joppa Road.
Lengthy delays were being reported on the route with Musselburgh Road partially blocked northbound near to Seaview Crescent.
Traffic was said to be backed up in both directions as the incident was dealt with by police.
One eyewitness described seeing a lot of bystanders near an incident at the junction of Colliesdene Drive and Joppa Road.
The incident was reported to have been cleared shortly before 8pm.
