Jonson Clarke-Harris 'watched' by Rangers as Barry Fry reveals regular scouting trips to Peterborough

Rangers are considering a move for Peterborough striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, according to a report.

The 26-year-old has been impressive since moving to the Posh from Bristol Rovers and has netted an incredible 25 goals in 37 games in League One this season, with 27 goals in all competitions.

Barry Fry has revealed Rangers have been regular visitors to the Weston Homes Stadium this season and Clarke-Harris has been a player they've been watching.

Steven Gerrard's men are constantly looking for players who can improve their squad and will be impressed with the level of goals scored by Clarke-Harris, despite the low level.

Clarke-Harris was signed as Ivan Toney's replacement with the former Celtic target going on to impress in the Championship with Brentford.

Rangers were in attendance on Saturday as Clarke-Harris netted a hat-trick for the Posh against Accrington Stanley, although Fry admits he's yet to hold serious conversations with the Ibrox club about the frontman.

He told Peterborough Today: “We want promotion this season so there’s no way we would have let him go. It was the same situation with Ivan Toney last season. We could have sold him in January, but we were never going to. The owners have done great to resist cashing in at a time when football clubs are struggling financially.

“Rangers have been to a lot of our matches this season and they were there on Saturday. Sheffield United were also there, but West Brom weren’t.

“I didn’t have a conversation about Jonson with any of them though.

“Like with Ivan, we don’t have a single concern that transfer talk will affect Jonson. He is single-minded and his focus is entirely on winning promotion with us.

“He’s a humble man who constantly gives the praise to his teammates.”
