"I loved every second working on this show and will come away better equipped and stronger actor because of it," he wrote.

"A massive thanks to South Pacific Pictures and the show's creator Kate McDermott for putting their trust in me to bring Dave to life.

"To all the crew who had our backs and most of all to my fellow cast, you were all great and I couldn't have asked for a better team. Until next time!"

Alas, the time has come to wave goodbye to Dave, Cara and the rest of the gang. I loved every second working on this...

The actor also wrote a comment under the Facebook post, clarifying for fans that he is "bitterly disappointed" about Step Dave ending. He wrote:

"Just to clear up any confusion: my new project in the US has nothing to do with the cancellation of Step Dave. I was super keen to do a third season and like many of you I am bitterly disappointed. Thank you so much for you continued support and I hope you enjoyed the show as I know we all did making it. Sorry we're not going again."

Meanwhile, Kenyon is moving on to bigger and brighter things in his new base of Los Angeles, after landing a lead role in Shonda Rhimes' new TV pilot, Toast.

Toast is a "hybrid comedy" about an engaged couple whose wedding rehearsal dinner features toasts from a variety of their family and friends.

Kenyon has been cast as one half of that engaged couple, Max Leeds. The character is described as being "awkwardly handsome, charming and unassuming" - not unlike his character in Step Dave.
