Jonny Hayes' filthy Aberdeen prank exposed as Shay Logan lifts lid on high-stakes fine system

Shay Logan has exposed Celtic winger Jonny Hayes for a horror prank during his time at Aberdeen.

The Dons full-back explained the big changes in the Aberdeen dressing room in the six years he's been at the club as the cameras were granted access inside Cormack Park.

It's gone from a wild group with constant pranks to a laid back squad with Derek McInnes continually rebuilding his team with big players leaving.

But one incident stands out for Logan as he revealed a time Hayes may have gone a wee bit too far.

Logan - along with Sam Cosgrove - were giving a tour of the new training facilities to Football Focus and explained some of the fines that have been put in place over the years.

And Hayes' filthy act was up for discussion as the Englishman explained the moment that left the first-team squad stunned.

He said: “Before we moved in here the forfeit would be a spin of the wheel. That’s what builds our fines up for the Christmas do.

“When I first came you didn’t know where you were going to train the next day. Could be here, could be there. For a club this size, they should have had this a long time ago. To finally get it now is really good.

“When Graeme Shinnie was here, he’d give the booby prize for a choice of three things. So he’d give you the choice to shave AFC into you, shave your eyebrow or dye your beard blond. It’s either do one of them or you pay £100. I’d have paid £500 not to do it.

“The changing room now to when I first came six and a half years ago is different. You had people like Jonny Hayes who would literally poo in your shoe. There was just things going on.

"They were good lads but it was just a more wild changing room than it is now. It’s a bit more chilled and laid back.”

Logan was also full of praise for Cosgrove with the striker attracting admiring glances from the English Championship.

Middlesbrough, Stoke and various others have watched him over recent months and Logan is a huge fan.

He added: “He’s also being a proper centre forward, he’s getting about the pitch, he’s working hard, he’s holding the ball up and he’s getting his reward with it by scoring goals. For me, he’s the main man.”
