Jonny Hayes Aberdeen return a possibility as Dave Cormack admits 'love' for winger

Dave Cormack admits he’s a huge fan of Jonny Hayes but the Aberdeen chairman says he hasn’t spoken to Derek McInnes about new signings.

The winger left Celtic at the end of last week and admitted he wouldn’t be against a return to Pittodrie.

The Irishman spent five years at Aberdeen and left the club a huge fan favourite before Brendan Rodgers took him to Glasgow in 2017.

The 32-year-old has been linked with moves to the likes of Cardiff, Stoke City and Preston but staying in Scotland is being considered.

And Cormack would clearly be interested in speaking to him if McInnes wants him, but refused to commit while the outlook of Scottish football remains unknown.

He told BBC Scotland: "Well personally I love Jonny, he’s a wonderful guy and he won’t thank me for saying this but he’s very charitable to some of the people struggling in Aberdeen and he’s said nothing about it.

"We just have to wait and see how we go through the next couple of months and certainly, I haven’t sat down with Derek at all to talk through where we might be with the squad but clearly Jonny that I’m a fan of, I love Jonny and the fans do too but we’ll just have to wait and see."
