Jonny Evans ruled out of Romania game after not travelling with Northern Ireland squad

Jonny Evans will not play in Northern Ireland's opening Nations League game in Romania after not travelling with the squad.

Ian Baraclough and his team flew out to Bucharest on Thursday ahead of Friday night's game.

Sky Sports and the BBC both reported that Leicester City defender Evans was not part of the travelling party.

The BBC said Evans was sitting out the game "as a precaution" but the 32-year-old could be involved in Monday night's game against Norway at Windsor Park.

It is a major blow for Baraclough who is preparing to take charge of his first game since succeeding Michael O'Neill back in June.

Evans has won 84 caps since making his debut against Spain in 2006.
