Jonny Evans says it would be foolish to write Northern Ireland ’s Euro 2020 hopes off in the wake of Monday’s painful 2-0 defeat to the Germans.
Michael O’Neill’s men lie joint top of Group C – below Die Mannschaft on goal difference – but face a treacherous end to the campaign.
A trip to face the Dutch, who are now just three points behind with a game in hand, is next up in Rotterdam on October 10.
The pool then concludes with a daunting double header in November – a home clash with Holland followed by a daunting date with Germany in Frankfurt.
“We know it’s going to be difficult, but we still have things to play for,” said Evans.
“Like we have done over recent years, we will approach our remaining games with belief.
“The manager will have us well organised and well prepared going into those qualifiers with everything still to play for.”
While Northern Ireland will be massive underdogs against the Dutch in only four weeks time, Evans is relishing facing The Oranje.
The Leicester City star said: “I’ve not played Holland on the international stage yet and as a kid growing up you always admired them as a nation.
“You admired the players and the orange kit, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m sure it’s one the fans are looking forward to as well.”
