Jonnie Irwin feeling 'broken' after struggling to play football with son amid cancer

Jonnie Irwin has said he is feeling "weak" but is "still here" as he gave a heartbreaking update on his terminal cancer battle.

A Place In The Sun host Jonnie, 49, revealed he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in November last year, after his lung cancer spread to his brain.

Since revealing he was given just six months to live, Jonnie has been incredibly candid about his ongoing battle.

In a new interview, Jonnie has said: "I’m weak now, fragile and my memory is terrible… but I’m still here."

Jonnie, who celebrated his 50th birthday early, revealed he was left feeling "frustrated" as he faced difficulties while playing football with his son.

He is dad to Rex, two, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two.

The dad said: "I tried to play football with Rex the other day and was in goal and I couldn’t get near the ball. It was so frustrating.

"I’m very sporty and suddenly it’s just like…it was as if it was the first time I’d attempted football. I felt like a granddad. And that broke me a bit."

Jonnie also admitted that he thought he would be "leading from the front" as a parent but heartbreakingly added to The Sun : "I'm now at the back".

It comes after Jonnie set the record straight on rumours he was set to return to A Place In The Sun after a reunion with one of his cast mates.

Jonnie has admitted he 'doesn't know how long he has left', but thrilled fans when he appeared at A Place in the Sun's live show in Manchester, reuniting with co-host Jasmine Harman, who he has worked with for almost two decades.

Taking to Instagram, the TV host shared a snap of himself and co-host Jasmine Harman on stage at the property exhibition, and posted a photo of his outfit the day before.

However, after fans quizzed Jonnie on his potential return to the property programme, he took to Instagram ti set things straight.

He wrote: "Last week I got to team up with my mate again at @aplaceinthesunofficial Live. It was the busiest for years but, for some reason, the papers are talking about it as a comeback for me.

"Just to confirm @aplaceinthesunofficial is a separate company running the website and affiliated business and has supported me continuously though-out which I’m eternally grateful for. Here’s looking forward to the next one!"

Jonnie was inundated with support as he revealed his terminal cancer diagnosis and Jasmine was one of the first to share her support.

She wrote on Instagram at the time: "Sending lots of love and support to my great friend and original partner in crime @jonnieirwintv.

"I know it has taken bravery to share your story. As ever a true inspiration & always positive and up for a laugh no matter what the circumstances. Love to you and your beautiful family [heart emoji] #inspirational #friends #brave #positivity."
