Jonnie Irwin cracks fans up with 'bin washing' update from the bath amid terminal cancer battle

Jonnie Irwin blessed fans with an amusing update from the bathtub at the weekend - forced to scrub himself clean after an afternoon well spent washing out wheelie bins. The 49-year-old, who lives in Newcastle, said he 'made a promise to all' to stay in the bath after a 'jet washing marathon' - with the 'stink' of the bins clinging to him.

Always upbeat despite his terminal cancer diagnosis three years ago, Jonnie showed a snap of his legs in the tub - as the lover of cricket enjoyed The Ashes on his tablet. Taking to Instagram to share the photograph with his 181,000 followers, Jonnie wrote: "I went on a jet washing marathon earlier and got stuck in the washing the inside of my wheelie bins.

"I’m now sat stink and my back is killing me so I thought I’ll have a bath and watch the cricket with your volume down and test match."

Citing how he had promised his family that he would clean himself up after getting covered in 'bin juice', he added: "I’ve made a promise to all stay in the bath. How long is England remain in bat Sound on sky tuned down and @tms turned up.

"The water had now gone rather cold but I’ll be good for my word," adding #binjuice and #ashes for good measure.

And Jonnie's friends and fans alike were quick to share their own mishaps while washing out wheelie bins. One detailed how they are now 'banned' from using the jet wash after spraying their house with mud.

They wrote: "I am banned from using the power washer after it took off with me and the whole front of the house got sprayed with mud. I also have firm with one of those floorboard sanders.

"It ran away and took out a whole row of kitchen units, not too bad as I was helping a friend, so my kitchen was unharmed in the process. Her husband’s face when he came home is implanted in my brain!"

Others meanwhile complimented the TV star's legs, with one writing: "Everything will be all wrinkly by now !! Nice pins BTW x," while another, added: "Nice legs there Jonnie."

And a number of Jonnie's fans took the time to spread positive messages, citing how much of an 'inspiration' the father of three is amid his terminal cancer battle. One said: "Special guy Jonnie, keep fighting and being strong. Love to you all xx," while another, went on: "Bless you Jonnie and your beautiful family stay strong you are such amazing man god bless you xx."

A third, went on: "Fair play to you Jonnie - you're always on the go. Good man," while a fourth, simply put it: "You are an inspiration."

Jonnie was diagnosed with terminal cancer back in August 2020. He was given just six months to live at the time after his vision became blurry behind the wheel while returning from filming for A Place in the Sun.

After seeking medical advice, and numerous tests, the celebrity was told that he had developed lung cancer which had unfortunately spread to his brain. Defying his doctors' diagnosis, almost three years on, Jonnie continues to make precious memories with his wife Jess and three young boys Rex, Rafa and Cormac.
