Jonjoe Kenny looks set to complete a loan move to Celtic.
The Scottish Premier League side have suddenly emerged as favourites to land the right-back until the end of the season, overtaking Burnley in the process.
Everton were ready to do a deal for the sale of Kenny to the Turf Moor club but an agreement has not been struck.
It is thought Burnley refused to meet the Blues’ £10m asking price.
And tonight, it is understood that Celtic have moved ahead in the race for the 23-year-old ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.
Kenny has made 48 appearances for Everton since coming through the Toffees' youth academy, but spent last season out on loan at Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.
He returned to Everton in the summer but has failed to establish himself as a regular under Carlo Ancelotti.
