Jonjoe Kenny set for Celtic transfer as Neil Lennon closes in on loan for Everton right-back

Celtic are set to sign Jonjoe Kenny on-loan from Everton - although Ben Davies is set to snub them for Liverpool.

The Scottish champions have thrashed out a deal for Kenny and it should be completed before Monday's transfer deadline.

The 23-year-old is the man Neil Lennon has identified to solve his problem, right-back position, after Jeremy Frimpong was sold to Bayer Leverkusen for £11 million.

Kenny, a Celtic fan, has jumped at the chance to join his boyhood heroes for the rest of the season.

He is expected in Glasgow for his medical and to complete the paperwork on his move later today.

Kenny has played more than 30 games for Everton and has also had loans at Wigan Athletic and Oxford United.

He also spent last season on-loan at German side Schalke.

Burnley had been keen on buying Kenny in recent weeks but couldn’t match Everton’s £10 million valuation.

The Hoops were also interested in US international DeAndre Yedlin from Newcastle United but have now pushed for Kenny.

Celtic are still looking at potential central defensive and wide options.

They have been in pole position to sign Ben Davies on a pre-contract from Preston North End.

Celtic had pushed out the boat and were close to a deal for the centre half before Liverpool made a shock move.

The English Premier League champions have now opened the door for a dream £2 million move for the 25-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp wants to add to his central defensive options with Virgil van Dijk out long-term and has made a move for Davies.

That deal is expected to be confirmed on Monday.

Meanwhile, Olivier Ntcham has been linked with Marseille and Newcastle United but he is unlikely to make either move before the deadline.
