Jonjoe Kenny 'discussed' for Arsenal transfer as Celtic underperformer in the mix for shock switch

Celtic loanee Jonjoe Kenny is reportedly under consideration at Arsenal with the Gunners looking for a host of new signings.

The 24-year-old returned to parent club Everton at the end of the season after failing to turn heads during six months in Glasgow.

Kenny made 16 appearances in all competitions for Celtic but his displays from right-back weren't regarded as a highlight among the support during a season to forget.

The England youth international arrived during a tumultuous time but failed to provide the attacking verve and swagger that was a hallmark of Jeremie Frimpong before his abrupt exit to Leverkusen.

And now the Daily Mail claim Kenny could be an option at right-back for Mikel Arteta with Hector Bellerin linked for an exit.

Arsenal need a host of new recruits after a lacklustre season with Scotland international Kieran Tierney and fellow rising stars Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe among the few bright spots.

Kenny offers a solidity in defence but often appeared incapable of providing an attacking threat with his safety first displays irking supporters in the closing weeks of the season.

He has been with boyhood club Everton since he was a youngster but could be heading for a permanent exit after a clutch of loan spells.
