Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has backed Jose Mourinho to continue the fantastic work that Mauricio Pochettino did at Tottenham.
The former Spurs defender heaped praise on the Argentine boss for his efforts during a five-year spell at the club.
Whilst he failed to win a trophy, Pochettino took Tottenham to their first-ever Champions League final as well as consistently finishing in the Premier League top four.
Tottenham's last trophy came in 2008 when Woodgate scored the winner in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea during a 2-1 extra-time win.
The FA Cup appears to be Mourinho's best chance of ending the club's barren run for trophies, although it's Woodgate's in-form Middlesbrough side that stand between them and a place in the fourth round.
However, whilst Woodgate will be pulling out all of the stops to beat his former club on Sunday, he has praised the work done by Pochettino and backed Mourinho to carry that on throughout his time at the club.
"They came very close under Pochettino," said Woodgate when discussing his goal that helped Spurs claim their last piece of silverware.
"He did an unbelievable job with that team. The squad, with what he spent, he hardly spent anything, there was only one man who could come in and that's Mourinho.
"He'll do equally as good a job, he's one of the best managers in world football."
Middlesbrough have won their last four Championship matches including matches against top-of-the-table opposition in West Brom and Preston North End.
