Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will miss his sixth consecutive game Sunday against the Jets because of a back injury.
What's concerning for the Hawks is that coach Joel Quenneville said Toews will not skate for the next three days because the injury is "not getting better," according to Quenneville.
"We'll keep him off the ice," Quenneville said. "He was out there for a little bit this morning there and we'll keep him off for a few days and get a better assessment the middle of the week or so."
That would put Toews' status for Tuesday's game against the Coyotes in doubt. Toews was injured on November 23 in the Hawks' loss to the Sharks. He said he aggravated an existing injury when he fell to the ice during the second period. The Hawks were 3-1-1 without Toews entering Sunday.
