Jonathan Taylor is one of several NFL running backs who believe that the position is important and that ballcarriers deserve to be properly compensated for their production.
However, the position’s value has been a hot topic of late as multiple high-profile running backs like Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs failed to secure large-scale deals this offseason.
Joining the debate on today’s value of running backs, Colts owner Jim Irsay commented Wednesday about the growing frustration among ballcarriers, calling it “inappropriate” under the league’s collective bargaining and that some of the player’s agents are “selling bad faith.”
Malki Kawa, Taylor’s agent, disagreed with Irsay, tweeting that bad faith is “not paying your top offensive player.” Kawa further indicated his stance on the situation when he tweeted that it seemed unlikely for Irsay and Taylor to fix their relationship.

Taylor, who enters his fourth NFL season in 2023, is entering the final year of his rookie contract, one that he signed in 2020 for $7.8 million over four years. The former Wisconsin star has notched two 1,000-yard campaigns in his three-year NFL career, earned a Pro Bowl nod in ’21 and leading the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns that same season.
