Jonathan Majors to Vin Diesel: Hollywood's newsmakers of the week

In a whirlwind week of highs and lows, Hollywood's spotlight shines on a range of celebrity newsmakers. From Jonathan Majors being axed from MCU, to Ryan Gosling possibly getting an Oscar nod for Best Song, Vin Diesel, facing sexual assault allegations, these personalities dominated headlines this week.

Jonathan Majors

Jonathan Majors found himself at the centre of a storm this week. Marvel Studios, with grand plans resting on the actor's shoulders, took a sharp turn by severing ties with him after his guilty conviction for assault and harassment.

The 34-year-old faced a Manhattan jury on Monday, where he was found guilty of one misdemeanour assault charge and one harassment violation stemming from a March altercation with then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. Marvel Studios and the Walt Disney Co., dropped Majors as Kang from all future projects, casting doubt over the current Multiverse Saga which will culminate with 'Avengers: The Kang Dynasty'. Acquitted of other charges, Majors remains positive about clearing his name.

George Clooney

George Clooney shocked fans of actor Matthew Perry as he shared insights into his hidden struggles during his time on 'Friends.' Despite landing the iconic role of Chandler Bing, Perry, according to Clooney, grappled with discontentment despite the film's success. "He wasn't happy. It didn't bring him joy or happiness or peace," he said.

Brad Pitt

Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt turned 60 this week and celebrated his birthday with someone special by his side. Pitt, who has been linked to several women since his high-profile divorce from Angelina Jolie, reportedly spent his special day with rumoured girlfriend Ines de Ramon. Sources revealed low-key plans for the birthday week, hinting at a rekindling of love and leaving fans intrigued about Pitt's personal life.

Ryan Gosling

It was a big week for Ryan Gosling. The actor, known for his role as Ken in Margot Robbie's 'Barbie,' found himself in the running for an Oscar nomination in the Best Song category. His song, 'I'm Just Ken,' was shortlisted along with other songs from the film's soundtrack, including Billie Eilish's 'What Wa I Made For' and Dua Lipa's 'Dance The Night Away'. Beyond this, Gosling's rendezvous with Marvel bosses sparked rumors of his potential entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a possible new superhero.

Vin Diesel

In a shocking turn of events, Vin Diesel faced serious allegations of sexual assault from his former assistant. Asta Jonasson, filed a lawsuit accusing Diesel of sexual battery, creating a hostile work environment, and wrongful termination in 2010 when she was working on the 'Fast Five' set in Atlanta.

According to CNN, the complaint states Diesel ignored Jonasson's "clear statements of non-consent," and after she "screamed and ran towards the nearby bathroom," he "pinned her against the wall with his body."

However, Diesel "categorically denies this claim in its entirety."
