Jonathan LaPaglia has been caught ‘liking’ some rather shady comments about David Genat, as rumours swirl that the latter is set to replace LaPaglia as the host of Australian Survivor.
ICYMI, the Aussie TV landscape was sent into a tailspin earlier this week when it was announced that LaPaglia — who has hosted Survivor since 2016 — was fired from the reality series ahead of its 2026 season.
In the wake of the news, insiders shared their thoughts on the shock exit, with some claiming LaPaglia was “done dirty” by Channel 10 and Endemol Shine with an unceremonious firing over email.

LaPaglia announced his departure in an Instagram post which some onlookers thought included a vague swipe at Genat — a former Survivor winner who’s been tipped as the replacement host — but his recent Insta ‘likes’ were far less vague.
On Friday, LaPaglia appeared to go on a ‘liking’ spree as fans flocked to his comments section to commiserate after the news, with some users explicitly mentioning Genat.
“If it’s David I’ll stop following him,” one comment which was ‘liked’ by LaPaglia read.
Also on Friday, the former host ‘liked’ another comment by a fan who said they “will not be watching the show with the new host”… but the shady antics didn’t stop there.

Another user, presumably referring to Genat’s recent eye-watering win on Deal or No Deal in the US, said the Survivor alum “has enough money and doesn’t need the gig”, in a comment that also the click of approval from LaPaglia.

Perhaps the two shadiest comments ‘liked’ by LaPaglia were shared earlier this week, and included one fan who asked “why [producers] think getting rid of Jonathan and putting in David was a brilliant idea”.

The other, posted on Wednesday, held even less punches.
“Please don’t bring David in. He can be so full of himself.” Ouch.

While the pointed messages against Genat were seemingly co-signed by LaPaglia, the former host was not discriminate in his ‘like’ spree, and added a heart to a bunch of other messages that criticised Channel 10, called for a boycott of Survivor, or simply reflected on his time on the show.
So maybe it’s a case of an accidental ‘like’, or maybe two Survivor GOATS are gearing up for the show’s biggest face off to date.
If it’s the latter, Channel 10 needs to hire a camera crew, stat.
