Jonathan Hilliman suffered concussion vs. Jets, Wayne Gallman sent for x-rays

The New York Giants went relatively unscathed in their 31-22 defeat of the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night, but they didn’t make it out of the game with complete health.

Rookie running back Jonathan Hilliman, who saw some action late in the game, suffered a concussion on his final run, was promptly ruled out for the remainder and now enters the league’s mandated concussion protocol. How long he’ll remain out is unclear, but there’s no doubt it’ll take a little time for him to make it back to the field.

“Hilliman. He got banged on the sideline there, [he has] a concussion,” head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters following the game.

While Shurmur didn’t disclose injuries to any other players, it was later revealed that fellow running back Wayne Gallman was also banged up and had to be sent for x-rays, which came back negative.

Ultimately, Shurmur says, he expects some issues to pop up on Friday.

“I’m sure something will pop up tomorrow,” Shurmur said.
