Jonathan Dinzeyi joins Arsenal after release by Tottenham as Gunners continue youth recruitment drive

Arsenal have bolstered their youth ranks with the addition of former Tottenham youngster Jonathan Dinzeyi.

The Gunners officially confirmed the 20-year-old defender's arrival on Monday, with a potential deal first rumoured last week.

Dinzeyi is initially set to join Steve Bould's Under-23 squad at Arsenal having only been released by north London rivals Tottenham last month.

The centre-back's sole appearance for the Tottenham first team came in a friendly against Spanish outfit Girona back in 2018.

Dinzeyi's arrival follows that of Norwegian winger George Lewis, former Huddersfield midfielder Tim Akinola and ex-Feyenoord starlet Salah-Eddine as Arsenal academy manager Per Mertesacker looks to add to the number of youngsters at the club.

"We all welcome Jonathan to Arsenal and look forward to supporting him with his continued development," Arsenal said on their official website.

"The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes."

At senior level, Arsenal have already signed former Chelsea stalwart Willian on a three-year contract this summer.

Standard Sport understands that fellow Brazilian Gabriel Magalhaes is also due in London in the next 48 hours to complete a £25million switch to Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners seeing off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain for the Lille defender's signature.
