We're experiencing a little whiplash this morning. It was just last Thursday that we learned Maria Grazia Chiuri was stepping away from her post at Christian Dior. This morning we were officially informed that Jonathan Anderson will be taking over all of Dior, including the women's and men's ready-to-wear along with haute couture.
The reveal isn't that surprising since many industry insiders saw the writing on the wall once Anderson was brought on for Dior's menswear collections. (Leaving Loewe in the more than capable hands of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.) His first Dior Men collection drops this month. It'll be a great indicator of his vision for Dior going forward. As if we aren't already excited about his debut, it's been revealed that Anderson has been digging into the archives while designing his first menswear presentation. There's no question that the talented designer will put his own stamp on the brand, hopefully incorporating expertly tailored silhouettes and a touch of surrealism. Anderson has never done haute couture, but we're not worried. Especially since his Spring 2025 offering for Loewe focused on the French golden age of haute couture.
It's also being reported that Anderson will stay involved with his other line, JW Anderson. His first Dior womenswear ready-to-wear collection will take place in September, while his haute couture introduction happens in January 2026. We're positive it'll be worth the wait.
