Montez Sweat has been one of the more interesting topics surrounding the Washington Redskins this season.
Mostly because Sweat hasn’t lived up to the hype.
And to be fair to Sweat, he came with a ton of hype because the Redskins made the trade in the first round to go up and get him.
While the outside perspective might not seem very positive, guys in the locker room like Jonathan Allen have a more measured take.
“As a rookie, you’re going to learn week in and week out,” Allen said, according to Jacob Steinberg of Redskins.com. “This is only his ninth game in the NFL, so obviously he’s going to improve week in and week out. I’m happy with the way he’s been progressing lately.”
Sweat has appeared in nine games and has 19 total tackles with 2.5 sacks, though quite a bit more goes into his performance than simple statists.
But if teammates are seeing it, and combined with his steady weekly climb, panic about Sweat doesn’t seem warranted.
