Jonas Eidevall excited for early shot at Arsenal silverware in Women’s FA Cup final against Chelsea

Jonas Eidevall is relishing the Women’s FA Cup final meeting with Chelsea but says it will be a surreal experience to lead the Gunners out at Wembley.

The London rivals will meet in December’s final after two comfortable semi-final victories with Arsenal beating Brighton 3-0 and Emma Hayes’ Chelsea side overcoming an injury-depleted Manchester City by the same scoreline.

Hayes had said she wanted to face Arsenal in the final to pack out the national stadium for "a nice little derby", and got her wish. The Chelsea manager has twice won the competition, in 2015 and 2018.

The Chelsea boss said: "As a kid, I always wanted to be there and never thought I would be there as a coach but have now managed to do it a few times."

For her counterpart Eidevall it will be an entirely new experience.

"It’s a bit surreal [to be going to Wembley], but you couldn’t wish for something better and we get to compete so early for a title - it’s just fantastic," said Eidevall.

"I couldn’t ask for a better playing or staff group. The foundations were there when I came in so I haven’t had to build anything new, just something existing.

"We need our strongest team against Chelsea and everyone wants to play the final at Wembley. It will be a great occasion."
