Jonah Williams reveals he didn’t visit the Jags, met with the at the combine instead

The draft is just over 24 hours away and it seems most have narrowed the Jacksonville Jaguars’ choices down to two players. One of those, of course, is Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson and the other is Alabama tight end Jonah Williams, who joined ESPN’s 690 AM of Jacksonville to discuss his busy offseason. In the process, he told the “Action Sports Jax” show that he didn’t visit the Jags facility, but did meet with them at the combine. He also revealed that he’s very familiar with the city of Jacksonville as his parents live in Amelia Island which is in the eastern part of Jacksonville.

Despite just meeting with them at the combine, there are a lot of reasons Williams could be a Jaguar tomorrow night. First and most importantly, they have a need on the right side of their offensive line with Will Richardson (who didn’t play last season and went to injured reserve) basically being penciled in as the starting right tackle and A.J. Cann having an average at best tenure at guard. Drafting Williams would give them options to battle both players as he’s played right tackle and is believed to have the skills to be a Pro Bowl caliber guard.

However, there is one problem the team may have if they want Williams and that is the fact that some analysts feel he may be gone by the No. 7 overall pick. If that’s the case, it will be interesting to see what is their Plan B.
