Jon Rahm did not take kindly to people mocking his Wimbledon outfit

Jon Rahm saw all the criticism about his Wimbledon attire — including a tweet from fellow golfer Thomas Pieters — and he is not happy about it.

While the budding star attended the tennis action in England last week, he wore a suit that included a star-studded shirt. Pieters tweeted a photo of Rahm at pro Eddie Pepperell and said, “Take it from here boss. I’m on the floor.”

Rahm was asked about it ahead of the 2019 Open Championship and Golf Digest has the exchange with a reporter. He says the shirt “wasn’t my first choice” to wear but that “you’ve got to wear it with confidence.”

Here’s more:

Yeah, for reasons — for just it didn’t come, the shirt I wanted to wear didn’t come from the dry cleaners in time. But still, it’s one of the shirts I have that I’ve worn before. It’s not meant to be worn with a suit. I’d rather not go to a Royal box with a starred shirt. But it’s what I had. I got compliments in the Royal box. As far as I’m concerned it was a good day.

And what about Pieters? Has he seen him at Royal Portrush this week?

I saw the Tweet. I haven’t seen him, no. And I’m not necessarily going to look for him after something like that.

Uh-oh.
