Jon Jones teases fight announcement; Jan Blachowicz hints it could be against him

It appears UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been booked for a fight, and top contender Jan Blachowicz alluded that he could be the opponent.

Jones (25-1 MMA, 19-1 UFC) took to Twitter Monday to announce that he has a “big fight announcement coming soon.” With the main event for UFC 244 in New York already set, a fight between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal, the pay-per-view after that is UFC 245 on Dec. 14 in Las Vegas, which Jones could end up headlining.

On Tuesday, Blachowicz cleverly announced that he also has fight news coming soon, which has many wondering if it’s a light heavyweight title shot.

Blachowicz (24-8 MMA, 7-5 UFC) has been campaigning for a title shot, telling Jones to beware of the “Polish power.” Jones responded by insinuating that it would be an easy win for him. With Jones clearing out the majority of the division, most recently edging Thiago Santos at UFC 239, Blachowicz would figure to make sense for his next challenge.

Blachowicz is coming off his highest profile win, a second-round knockout over former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, also at UFC 239. He has won five of his last six as he hopes to dethrone one of the greatest fighters of all time in Jones.
