Jon Gruden gives encouraging update on Antonio Brown’s status

The Antonio Brown era in Oakland appeared to be in crisis just one week ago, as reports emerged that an injured Brown was ready to walk away from the game over a helmet dispute while recovering from frostbite, all appears to be well in Raiders practice now as the regular season nears.

Brown suited up and participated in warmups for the Raiders’ second preseason game on Thursday, but did not play. Brown, who has since denied reports that he could have retired over his helmet beef, took part in a walkthrough on Saturday at Raiders camp in Napa, according to ESPN.

Via ESPN:

When asked on Saturday if he saw Brown being a full participant in practice soon, Raiders coach Jon Gruden said, “I think so, yeah.”

“He took all the reps today in our walkthrough. He showed great retention, and we’ll see what happens here with this afternoon; we’re going to have a walkthrough today as well. We have a lot of guys that can’t practice so we’ll pick it up tomorrow.”

Brown’s return to practice will be a welcome sight for Raiders fans and fantasy owners alike. Brown and the Raiders play the Packers on August 22nd and the Seahawks on August 29th before opening the regular season against the Broncos on September 9th.
