Hunter Renfrow is not someone you would think would play NFL football. He looks more like he would help people with your investments instead of catching footballs across the middle of the field.
However, Renfrow changes all those thoughts when the whistle blows, and he is proving his worth early in training camp.
Raiders beat writers and media members have been raving about Renfrow’s ability to win in the slot with his precise routes. He is already starting to surpass projected off-season starter Ryan Grant, who has reportedly struggled in camp so far.
He is earning the respect of his peers as well with Lamarcus Joyner mentioning him unprovoked when asked about Antonio Brown.
That’s high praise for a rookie and displays how good of a start he is off too at camp. Renfrow contributing in his rookie year could be huge for this quick passing offense that likes to the ball out of the quarterback hand. Gruden gloated about his pick of Renfrow on Sunday.
Renfrow will get a ton of playing time during the preseason to show if his play in practice translates into the game. If he can continue to produce in the preseason as we saw in college and in training camp practices, he should be a lock to win the WR3 job in Oakland.
