Jon Dahl Tomasson riffs on Rangers pain as Malmo boss hails 'sensational' Champions League exit

Delighted Jon Dahl Tomasson has claimed it is "sensational" that Rangers are out of the Champions League after the shock defeat to Malmo.

The Premiership champions looked to bounce back from first leg defeat to the Swedes, and were 1-0 up at Ibrox through Alfredo Morelos when Bonke Innocent saw red on the stroke of half-time.

They looked to be in cruise control and heading for the Champions League play-off round but an Antonio Colak double silenced a full house at Ibrox.

Tomasson had ramped up the pressure on Steven Gerrard's side by claiming they needed the money more than his side.

The Danish legend lapped up the surprise result in his post-match breakdown of the game as he hailed his underdogs.

He told Fotbolls Kanalen: "We wanted to give the fans at home a special evening - and we did.

"I think we wrote a new chapter in Malmö's great history, against a very good team and a big club.

"We actually did the impossible. We played with ten men away at this big stadium, and handled it. I am proud of my team.

"Everyone in Sweden knows our famous team spirit, and I think many teams in Europe know it now as well.

"I'm so proud of the players and the whole club. It's sensational that a team like Rangers is out of the tournament.

"Over these two matches it was well deserved I think and we scored four goals."
