Jon Culshaw responds to Doctor Who rumours as he says it's his 'dream role'

Dead Ringers star Jon Culshaw, 52, has told The Graham Norton Radio Show that playing Doctor Who would be his "dream job."

The impressionist was asked about rumours he could replace Jodie Whittaker as the next time lord, and he revealed: "That's a call you know, I wouldn't hesitate on that one, that's for sure!"

He added: "I think to be the Doctor is the kind of life that I would like.

"Just to choose wherever you want in the universe, you know, maybe go to the Trappist System and see a setting red giant with five moons in the sky."

"To see alien worlds, and go to any time period you want... I'd quite like that sort of life, so playing the Doctor would be a step towards that I think."

Jodie is reportedly quitting at the end of the next Doctor Who series, when she will regenerate into the 14th Time Lord.

The 38-year-old has reportedly told bosses she intends to stick to the traditional rule of leaving after three stints in the TARDIS, like the majority of her predecessors.

One insider said: “It’s all very hush-hush but it is known on set that Jodie is leaving and they are gearing up for a regeneration.

“Her departure is top secret but at some point over the coming months the arrival of the 14th Doctor will need to be filmed.

David Jonsson is 16/11, Jo Martin 16/1, and Jodie Comer comes in at 16/1.
