Jon Bon Jovi hatches a plan to get Patrick Bamford scoring again in unlikely message to Leeds United striker

Legendary rock singer Jon Bon Jovi has sent a message of inspiration to Leeds United star Patrick Bamford ahead of tonight’s huge clash with Middlesbrough.

The Whites beat Reading 1-0 at Elland Road to extend their lead in the automatic promotion places to five points on Saturday afternoon, but Bamford drew some criticism for his individual display.

Bamford has 12 league goals for Leeds this season, but has now failed to score in 10 of his last 11 appearances, with fans beginning to voice their concern over the forward being good enough to lead them back to England’s top-flight.

And during an appearance on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, the 57-year-old was asked why Bamford’s name always seemed to come up when anyone researched whether the singer had any links with football.

And it appears Bon Jovi is well aware that the Leeds man is a big fan of his music.

“He’s great. He gets motivated listening to Bon Jovi before a game. What could be better than that?” he said.

Before the Livin' On A Prayer singer had a message for Bamford after presenter Laura Woods pointed out his current goal drought.

He said: “Patrick, I’m holding your next game cheque. You score, you get it. You don’t score, I keep it. How’s that for motivation? Good morning.”
