A 55-year-old woman died after being hit by a car Thursday morning in Joliet in the far southwest suburbs.
She was hit by a car about 6:50 a.m. in the road near Jefferson Street and Hammes Avenue, according to a statement from Joliet police.
She was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash.
The Will County coroner’s office did not immediately release details on the death.
A police investigation is ongoing.
