Joker movie drops sinister final trailer featuring Joaquin Phoenix as classic villain

Make 'em laugh.

The latest sinister trailer for the DC Comics film Joker has dropped and shows off both the sinister and sweet sides of the Clown Prince of Crime.

Acclaimed star of You Were Never Really Here and Oscar-nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix portrays Arthur Fleck, a man struggling to find his way in the fractured society of Gotham City.

A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night, but life has a way of being horrible to Arthur.

Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one dark decision that brings about a chain reaction of unimaginably dangerous events in this gritty character study from director Todd Phillips.

The final trailer sees sweet scenes between Arthur aka Joker and the character played by Deadpool 2 star Zazie Beetz.

There are also shots showing the drastic weight loss of Phoenix in the role of the classic Batman character.

The footage also shows off television host Franklin, played by Oscar-winner Robert De Niro.

The film also serves as a tribute to the Martin Scorsese film The King of Comedy, which De Niro also starred in.
