Joker-masked thief holds up Subway outlet and assaults teenager

A man wearing a Joker-style mask and carrying an imitation gun has robbed a Subway outlet and assaulted a teenaged staff member in Adelaide's eastern suburbs.

Police said the man entered the Hope Valley store on Grand Junction Road about 9:00pm last night.

The masked man was armed with what appeared to be an imitation firearm and assaulted a teenage staff member.

Police said the man then stole cash from the till.

"Fortunately, there were no injuries," police said in a statement.

The intruder was last seen running through the rear carpark onto Hotham Street and is believed to have left in a small white hatchback — possibly a Toyota SUV — that was parked in Leeds Avenue.

The suspect was described as being between 170 and 175 centimetres tall with a skinny build and pale complexion.

He was wearing a dark hooded top, dark chino pants and a Joker-style clown mask.

Police have urged anyone with information on the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
