Joker and Return of the Jedi to be screened with live orchestra in Liverpool

A live symphony orchestra will accompany screenings of Joker and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi at the Philharmonic Hall this year.

Tickets are on sale now for both shows, which have been rescheduled from last year.

Jodd Phillips’ Joker won an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for Best Original Score.

Composer Hildur Guðnadóttir's work is a fusion of looming industrial soundscapes with raw, emotive string-led melodies - led by a lone cello. It further illuminates the emotional weight, texture and atmosphere of Joaquim Phoenix’s captivating portrayal as Arthur Fleck.

Meanwhile, the climactic sixth episode of the Star Wars saga will also be presented live in concert for the first time with a symphony orchestra performing John Williams' iconic score live on the big screen.

The film sees Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia joined by Jabba the Hutt, Yoda and the Ewoks in an adventure across the galaxy as Darth Vader prepares to unleash the final blow to the Rebel Alliance.

Return of the Jedi Live in Concert takes place at the Philharmonic Hall on Sunday, November 28. Tickets priced from £35.50 are available from the Philharmonic box office and Ticketmaster.

Joker Live in Concert (age restriction: 15+) takes place on Tuesday, November 2. Tickets priced from £32.50 are available from the Philharmonic box office and Ticketmaster.
