Joint inspection teams raid shops to check Chinese kite string in Ludhiana's Jagraon

LUDHIANA: Following the orders of deputy commissioner Surabhi Malik, joint teams comprising officials from the district and police administration inspected selling points of kites and string in various areas of Jagraon sub-division.

Giving further information, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Jagraon Vikas Hira said that Chinese string had been completely banned by the Punjab government, and on Monday; joint teams checked several shops and found the "stock satisfactory". He said that "no Chinese string" was recovered in any shop in today's drive.

Hira said that chief minister Bhagwant Mann had clearly ordered strict action against the people who risk human lives by selling this dangerous string for kite-flying.

He said that the people involved in this illegal act of selling string will not be spared at any cost.

SDM appealed to the people to inform the local administration or police station about such persons so that immediate action can be taken against the violators. He also urged parents not to allow their children to use Chinese string and make them aware of the dangerous outcome of using this string.
