Join the journey of new India's new Uttar Pradesh: CM Yogi Adityanath's call to investors

NEW DELHI/LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath kickstarted the countdown to the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2023 scheduled to be held in Lucknow from February 10 to 12 at an event in Delhi.

He called upon global and domestic industries to take advantage of the massive opportunities being provided by UP and to participate in the project of making “New India” a prosperous and powerful country.

Addressing investors from all over the world, the CM invited them to join “New India’s New Uttar Pradesh” in its journey towards growth and development by participating in the GIS. The UP government has set a target of getting investments to the tune of Rs 10 lakh crore through this event in which more than 300 investors from India and abroad are likely to participate.

The CM said that as of now, 21 countries have expressed interest in participating in the event while Netherlands, Denmark, Singapore, United Kingdom and Mauritius have agreed to be partner countries for the programme. For reaching out to investors directly, the state government will be holding roadshows in 18 countries and seven cities across India.

During the event, the CM also released a booklet detailing UP’s sectoral policies and investment possibilities. The Online Incentive Management Portal and Customer Relationship Management Portal called ‘Nivesh Sarathi’ was also formally launched by the CM.

“UP at present is at the pinnacle of a progressive transformational journey. The vision of a self-reliant India, as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is the main pillar of this rejuvenation. We have set a goal of a USD 1 trillion economy in the coming five years, following the PM’s plan to take India’s economy to USD 5 trillion,” he said.

The GIS, Yogi Adityanath said, would provide a platform to the global industrial world to participate in the state’s economic development and in turn, benefit from it. He said that the three-day event will be attended by policymakers, leadership of the corporate world, business delegations, academia, think tanks, and intellectuals. They will, he said, collectively brainstorm on business possibilities in UP and opportunities for partnership with the state.

Explaining why UP had transformed into an investment friendly hub, the CM said that the state government was offering policy assistance and high-class infrastructure, along with improved law and order. “For proactive investor connect and handholding, our government has developed a new online system called ‘Nivesh Sarathi’ for signing memorandums of understanding and monitoring their implementation. In addition to this, the government has launched around 25 policies across sectors, including IT/ITES, data centre, defence and aerospace, electric vehicles, warehousing and logistics, tourism, textile, MSME etc,” he said.

He said that UP was strategically located near Delhi and has the largest population in the country. “With a population of 24 crore, UP has India’s largest labour force and consumer market. Infrastructure is being developed at a rapid pace to ensure seamless connectivity through air, water, road and rail, which will further enhance accessibility to global and domestic markets,” he said.

He further said that UP has India’s largest youth population for which 72 universities and 169 industrial training institutes are operating across the state. The state also offers opportunities for skill development institutes and exchange programmes.

Among the major developments in the state is the construction of the defence corridor, the CM said. Major allocations on the corridor include BrahMos in Lucknow and Bharat Dynamics in Jhansi, he said. The state’s first medical device park has been inaugurated near Yamuna Expressway. Similarly, a Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Handicrafts Park and Logistics Hub are being developed in the Yamuna Expressway area. Other projects being developed include IIT GNL at Greater Noida, Mega Food Park at Bareilly, Trans Ganga City at Unnao, Plastic Park at Gorakhpur, Garment Park at Gorakhpur and several flatted factory complexes, he said.
