Join Edinburgh's Great Scottish Tattie Run next month carrying a 20kg bag of spuds

The Great Scottish Tattie Run may sound funny but we doubt you will be laughing after running with a 20kg bag of spuds on your back.

This unique event is now in its fourth year and sees runners carry either a 20kg bag for men, or 10kg bag for women, one mile in a bid to raise money for charity.

You can tackle the challenge on your own or join as a team competing in a relay race - but instead of a baton, you will be passing a sack of tatties.

Participants get to keep their tatties and leftover snacks are distributed to local causes (Great Scottish Events/ Facebook)

The race will kick-off at 2pm on June 30 at Silverknowes Promenade, while a children's 'tattie run' and the 'spud and spoon' race will start at 3pm.

Participants can keep their tatties and any leftovers will be given to local foodbanks, homeless shelters and other local causes.
