Johnston Press is to close five more local newspaper offices in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Among the papers affected are the South Yorkshire Times, the Matlock Mercury, the Ripley and Heanor News and the Mansfield Chad.
A management memo to staff, quoted by HoldTheFrontPage, said the papers will continue to be staffed by editorial teams "who will continue to work locally." It said:
"Local reporters and sales staff will continue to cover these areas through agreed contact points and regular reporter surgeries.
These arrangements will be complemented, where appropriate, by a presence in the offices of organisations such as tourist information centres and community groups to support our local community engagement."
The move will cause redundancies, though it's uncertain whether that will involve journalists.
