Johnny Vegas' glamping site has been forced to close after "struggling to cope" with the unpredictable Yorkshire weather.
Last year, Johnny Vegas opened a glamping site that was nestled in the North Yorkshire countryside, featuring a collection of vintage vehicles, including an old Maltese bus restored and named after Johnny’s late mum, Patricia.
The glamping site has featured on Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping on Channel 4 but after the Field of Dreams closed in September, the comedian has since found another site to host, ready for the second series.
According to YorkshireLive, Louise Pullan who runs the Field of Dreams farm where the vehicles were pitched, said they were not "geared up" for the weather.
Situated at 300m above sea level, the farm is often lashed by wind and rain, with one guest even reporting that a leak left the bedding area " wet through."
Some even said the TV series "presented a very different experience".
According to IMDB it stated: "The Field of Dreams Vintage Vehicle Glamping site around which the series was based was closed down ahead of its planned season end in late September 2021, due to issues with inclement weather and the vehicles/tents not being adequately weather-sealed."
The Channel 4 series in 2021 showed Johnny and Bev setting out to turn a collection of old derelict vehicles into a boutique hotel for eager glampers.
Louise, who has run her own campsite for 10 years with her husband Richard, said the use of her land for a celebrity glamping site was a "great opportunity", adding: "The minute the first episode went out we were booked out in three days solid."
She added that Johnny was "a lovely guy" and said his concept of a glamping site using repurposed old vehicles was "amazing" and could have been a "powerhouse and goldmine" if they got it at a "good location."
She said: "I wish them the best of luck and to learn from the experience here and make it the amazing place they want it to be."
TripAdvisor was filled with reviews on the campsite, the majority of which appeared to be praise.
The farm was designed by the comedian and his assistant Bev Dixon as Bev told YorkshireLive : "The vast majority of people had a fantastic time staying on the 'Field of Dreams' and even when the weather turned bad, the guests and the vehicles managed to weather the storms."
Now, the award-winning comedian is expanding his glamping enterprise and will return for a second series of Johnny Vegas: Carry on Glamping.
Bev added: "We took the decision to move from the Breaks Fold Farm due to concerns over logistics and planning as we’re looking to add some more vehicles to the site.
"Johnny and I were overwhelmed with the support and feedback from people who stayed at our site and we’re nearly ready to announce where the new location will be. We hope it will prove as popular with people who stayed in the North Yorkshire site and made our time there truly memorable."
