Johnny Sexton fully fit to face Wales in Ireland's Six Nations opener

Johnny Sexton has handed Andy Farrell a massive Six Nations boost by declaring he is fully fit for Sunday's opening Six Nations encounter with Wales.

Sexton, 35, suffered a hamstring scare in Leinster's recent victory over Munster at Thomond Park and was assessed by IRFU medics last week when the Ireland players came into camp to begin preparations for the championship.

But the veteran no 10 go through the full training session earlier today and is confident that he will be firing on all cylinders in the Principality Stadium.

"I trained fully today with the group, thankfully," said Sexton.

"I got through that OK so all available for selection and the group trained well today, and the lads had a good hit out at the weekend (against Ulster), and we're looking forward for the weekend now."

Head coach Farrell will name his starting line-up for the clash on Friday afternoon and will hope that, Sexton apart, Tadhg Furlong and James Lowe will be part of the selection mix this week.
