Johnny Marr is working on the score for the new Bond film No Time To Die

Manchester music icon Johnny Marr is bringing his legendary guitar to the score for the new James Bond film.

The former guitarist and co-songwriter for The Smiths has announced that he's teaming up with film score composer Hans Zimmer again - this time to pen the musical score for No Time To Die.

The 25th film in the 007 series, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, stars Daniel Craig in his final appearance as the British secret service agent.

"Part of the legacy of the Bond films is iconic music, so I'm very happy to be bringing my guitar to No Time To Die," said the 56-year-old musician .

"Sounds mega," said one fan about the collaboration.

"Fantastic news. Looking forward to the film even more now. Smash it," tweeted another.

"Ah, Mr Marr we've been expecting you!!!!!!" wrote another.

And another joked: "From Rusholme With Love..."

Marr and Zimmer have previously worked together on the scores for films including Inception and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

This comes after Bad Guy hitmaker Billie Eilish confirmed that she’ll sing the theme tune for No Time To Die.

The 18-year-old singer will make history as the youngest artist to ever record a Bond tune.
