Johnny Kenny set to join Celtic from Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers striker Johnny Kenny is set to arrive at Celtic as their fourth January signing, according to reports.

The League of Ireland club are believed to have negotiated a deal with Celtic to the tune of €150,000 (£125,000) for the talented youngster.

This deal could be increased by add-ons if Kenny goes on to be a hit in green and white hoops, according to the Irish Independent, with a 10 to 15 per cent sell-on clause negotiated.

And another six-figure fee is due if he makes a set number of first-team appearances, it's claimed.

Hibs were also interested in bringing the Sligo star to Scotland but the lure of Celtic has proven too strong and he will snub the green side of Edinburgh for Glasgow.

An Ireland Under-19s forward, Kenny signed a new deal with Sligo last month. But this was in a bid to ensure the Irish outfit got a fair fee for their man.

His arrival in Scotland could be announced in the next 24 hours, reports The Daily Record.

Kenny netted double figures in his first senior season and his form meant an exit was always likely when it ended last year.

Postecoglue has already signed a trio of Japanese players from the J-League during the transfer window - Yosuke Ideguchi, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate.
