The phrase “punters are people too” was made popular by Pat McAfee, but that’s not all punters are. Apparently, they’re crossword clues, too.
Rams four-time All-Pro punter tweeted on Tuesday that his friend let him know he was a clue in the Wall Street Journal’s crossword puzzle. His reaction was predictably humble, simply saying, “I’ve peaked.”
Naturally, we had to look up the clue to see what the answer was. He was the first clue on the entire puzzle at 1-across. It read: “NFL punter Johnny Hekker, for one.”
Can you guess the five-letter answer? Here’s a hint: It starts with an ‘L’ and ends in an ‘M.’
