It's not often that an interior design stops me in my tracks, but the first time I laid eyes on Johnny Galecki's color-drenched library, it's fair to say I was stunned. Covered in a striking cherry red paint, the space is surprisingly welcoming – all brought to life through carefully curated touches.
The paint color was (of course) the first thing to grab my attention, but it didn't take long to realize that what makes the design truly special are the luxurious vintage details, from the midcentury lighting to the retro patterns. Thoughtfully layered by interior design duo Pierce & Ward, the library is a lesson in having fun with design.
On a mission to recreate the rather enviable library look, I've curated a list of the six best pieces to buy to transform your own study, home office, or reading nook into a work of art like Johnny's.

Johnny's library is undeniably artfully curated. Featuring striking red walls and decadent furniture and decor, it's a lesson in fusing fun with luxury. While painting your walls in cherry red may not be on the cards, you'll be pleased to know you can recreate the look with these six chic picks.

With a delicate pleated shade and curved base, the Evangeline floor lamp is an undeniably classic design that'll give any room an accomplished feel. Place it by a bookshelf or desk for a warm glow that illuminates while you read or work.

You'll notice plenty of animal prints in Johnny's library, such as the tiger rug that covers almost the entire floor. To recreate the look, place this 'Big Cats' area rug at the center of your space and layer other prints accordingly – the best part is, it's washable too!

Johnny's bookshelves feature an array of antique hands, much like this decorative object from Sagebrook. Covered in a detailed design, it's the perfect accessory to elevate an empty shelf and honor Johnny's eclectic style.

Gold is scattered throughout the space in small but punchy doses. The metallic tone adds luxury and a sense of sophistication, balancing out the prints and bold colors. To channel the maximalist design, place this bronze picture frame on a desk or console table, paired with other pieces such as a vase, table lamp and a stack of books.

Cheetah print can be controversial, but it's hard to resist this muted velvet pillow from Target. It's a refreshingly subdued take on the bold print and will add an elevated flourish to an armchair, sofa, or loveseat. For a truly eclectic look, pair it with another bold pattern, like a tiger throw or a cow print rug.

To recreate Johnny's space, don't forget about the all-important cherry red. While braving a red wall might not be for you, the Ajax steel bookcase ladder makes decorating with red feel far less daunting. It's the ultimate library accessory that'll stylishly hold books whilst paying homage to Pierce & Ward's design.
Johnny's library is a lesson in fearless design that honors its owner. It might be bold to some, but I think it's the perfect balance of fun and luxurious – and it couldn't be a more inspiring space to work in.
