Johnny Depp wants you to buy his Kentucky horse farm so he's cutting the price

LEXINGTON, Ky. _ After his portfolio managers rejected a $1.4 million offer for his Kentucky horse farm last year, Johnny Depp has relisted the property.

The property, named "Betty Sue's Family Farm" in honor of Depp's late mother, is now listed for $1.6 million. The new price is a far cry from the $2.9 million Depp wanted when it was up for auction in August 2017. The top bid at last year's auction was $1.4 million from radio personality Rick Dees.

The 42-acre farm just two miles from Keeneland is equipped with a 6,635-square-foot home with six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and a four-car garage. It also has two barns with 12 stalls and five paddocks. The property is next to Westmoreland subdivision

Depp, an Owensboro native and star of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, first brought the property in 1995 for $950,000 but sold it in 2001 for $1 million, according to property records. He changed his mind four years later and purchased it for $2 million. His mother lived on the property before she died in 2016.

The Fayette County Property Valuation Administrator has assessed the fair cash value of the farm at $2.3 million.

Forbes calls the new $1.6 million asking price a steal.

"At $1.6 million, not even a trailer sitting on forty acres along this fabled stretch of Versailles Road seems destined to languish long on the market," Guy Martin wrote on Forbes.

Depp, who will star in "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" late this month, has sold many of his properties following a costly divorce with Amber Heard. The divorce cost Depp $5.5 million and he was then sued by his managers for $18 million over an unpaid loan, Daily Mail reported.

The property is listed on Turf Town Properties.
